6. Review and verify the laboratory report: reconcile model names, ratings, factory address, brand and standard. The official CRS workflow requires application using the verified report within 90 days of issue.
7. Submit the licence application through the CRS portal with the test-report reference, declarations, supporting documents and applicable fee. Retain the acknowledgment.
8. Answer BIS scrutiny queries: provide the requested clarifications through the prescribed process. BIS decides whether to grant the licence.
9. Check the grant and prepare supply: verify approved models and scope, apply the required marking, and keep the approval and supporting records available for continuing compliance.

The BIS notice on the 2026 revised Scheme II provisions describes an initial five-year licence and renewal for a further five years, with fees payable annually. The licence's actual grant conditions and subsequent amendments remain relevant to your case.

Keep a calendar for annual fee payment, production information, renewal and any standard-transition deadlines. The notice explains that failure to pay annual fees and provide production details by the due date can affect continued operation of the licence.

Prepare an itemised budget covering laboratory testing, official application and annual charges, sample shipment, any retesting, AIR arrangements where relevant and professional support. Separate approvals such as EPR, WPC, TEC or BEE have their own scope and costs.

Supplying a notified product without the required approval, or outside the approved scope, can lead to enforcement action. Verify the applicable requirements before placing an order or releasing stock.

E-waste registration concerns the business placing covered electrical and electronic equipment on the Indian market and its role under the E-Waste (Management) Rules. It is separate from the manufacturer's BIS safety approval. Manufacturers, producers, recyclers and refurbishers have distinct registration roles; producer EPR obligations should not be assigned indiscriminately to every entity.

The product-category reference to assess for Power Converters is ITEW25. Match the exact equipment description to Schedule I and the current CPCB portal category. A commercial family can contain products with different codes; confirm the classification before calculating obligations.

Review whether the business manufactures and sells equipment under its own brand, sells another manufacturer's equipment under its own brand, or imports covered equipment. 4. Submit the application with the applicable payment and retain its acknowledgment.
5. Address scrutiny queries and correct inconsistencies; CPCB decides whether to grant registration for the requested scope.
6. After registration, maintain category-wise records and fulfil the applicable reporting and EPR requirements through the prescribed portal mechanism.

Registration and fulfilment of recycling obligations are different tasks. Producers meet assigned EPR obligations through the authorised certificate mechanism; registration alone is not evidence that annual obligations have been discharged.

Producers, including covered importers and brand owners

Maintain the required market-placement records, review assigned EPR obligations, obtain eligible EPR certificates through the prescribed mechanism and file the required returns. Check reporting periods, category mapping and certificate balances on the current portal.

Manufacturers

Complete the applicable manufacturer registration and manage e-waste arising from manufacturing as required. A manufacturer that also meets the definition of producer must assess that role separately.

Recyclers and refurbishers

Use the registration category for the activity actually performed and obtain applicable facility consents or permissions. Maintain records and returns for material processed. The generation of recycling certificates and any refurbishment-related treatment follow their respective rules and portal procedures.
