BIS Consultant

About the role

The BIS Consultant will support clients in understanding and preparing for applicable Bureau of Indian Standards certification requirements. Your work will connect product information, documentary evidence and testing or assessment coordination with the relevant application process. The role requires careful research, a structured approach to records and clear updates to clients. Different products and certification routes call for different preparation, so the ability to identify the appropriate technical information is central to the assignment.

Your responsibilities

• Review product descriptions and available technical information to support assessment of the applicable BIS route.
• Research relevant Indian Standards, product manuals and official certification guidance for assigned products.
• Prepare documentation checklists and coordinate missing manufacturer, product and test information.
• Support application preparation, submission coordination and responses to documentary queries within the assigned scope.
• Coordinate testing information, laboratory communication and assessment readiness with clients and the delivery team.
• Maintain application trackers, document versions and a clear record of pending actions.
• Explain status and preparation requirements accurately, keeping client expectations aligned with the process.

What you bring

• Relevant experience in BIS certification, product compliance, quality systems or regulatory documentation is preferred.
• An engineering, science or related technical qualification is useful; relevant certification experience will also be considered.
• Ability to read technical documentation and research applicable standards using official sources.
• Strong document organisation, spreadsheet skills and attention to detail.
• Clear communication with manufacturers, clients and technical counterparts.
• An understanding that certification decisions are made by the relevant authority and must not be promised in advance.

What good work looks like

Effective support results in coherent product information, complete documentation and visible next actions. The consultant should recognise technical gaps early and coordinate the appropriate testing or specialist input. Progress reporting must reflect the actual application position rather than assume a fixed approval timeline.
