Business Development Intern
Start building practical experience in business research, client outreach and sales coordination within a multidisciplinary consultancy.
About the role
As a Business Development Intern, you will support the team in identifying prospective clients, understanding their business requirements and keeping outreach activities organised. The role combines research, clear communication and disciplined follow-up. You will learn how professional services are introduced to businesses and how an initial enquiry progresses towards a scoped discussion. It suits someone who enjoys speaking with people, researching companies and turning information into useful next steps. Your work will support the business development team rather than involve giving independent legal or financial advice.
Your responsibilities
- Research prospective clients, industries and decision-makers using relevant business sources.
- Build and update prospect lists with accurate company information and clearly recorded sources.
- Support introductory calls, email outreach and follow-up under the direction of the business development team.
- Help prepare meeting notes, service information and proposal inputs for client discussions.
- Record outreach, responses and agreed next actions in the team’s CRM or tracking system.
- Coordinate meeting schedules and share questions that need input from legal, finance or compliance specialists.
What you bring
- Students or recent graduates in business, commerce, marketing or a related discipline are encouraged to apply.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with an interest in understanding business services.
- Comfort with spreadsheets, online research and basic presentation tools.
- A willingness to learn CRM processes and follow a structured outreach approach.
- Attention to detail, professional follow-up and respect for confidential client information.
What good work looks like
Success means producing useful prospect research, maintaining accurate records and following through on assigned tasks. Outreach should be relevant to the recipient’s business, and enquiries should be passed to the right team with sufficient context. Quality of information and consistency matter alongside activity levels.
